General Information

How does renting with Bookfount work?

To rent a book, simply search for the textbook you need, filter results using “Rent first”, click “Rent this”, set the length of time you want to rent it and follow the steps from there. You will receive calls and email reminders sent to the email listed on your account as your due date approaches but you can continue to use the My Order page on Bookfount to make changes to your order. When you’re ready to return the rental back, you may do that through our Return Center TI-116, TIIR Cell (Placement Building), NITR or simply schedule a pickup.

How are rental charges calculated?

Bookfount offers one of the cheapest book rental services in India as we charge no subscription fees or security deposit. Base rent is calculated as 7%-10% of MRP and a delivery and P&H fees Rs. 20 is charged to you. So you pay: Base Rent + Delivery for any book you rent from our website.

Can I pick up my rental at your office?

Yes, we have a reception area in TI-116, TIIR (Placement) Building, NITR. But before coming please check your order status in My Orders Page to see if it's “picked up”. This means your order has been received from the sellers and is ready for delivery.

Can I highlight or write in the book I rented?

No. At Bookfount, we take utmost care to maintain books in good condition. We provide both Brand New and Used books for rent. When we receive a returned book, we will determine in our sole discretion if it is in acceptable condition. If the returned book is determined by us not to be in original condition as delivered, we may in our sole discretion charge you the buyout price (calculated as the full purchase price of the book as of the time of rental, less any rental fees, late fees and extension fees you have already paid), and ship the book back to you to keep. Any form of damage (scribbling, writing, highlighting, torn pages, et cetera) will make the book unacceptable for return and a buyout price is charged to you.

What condition will the rental be in?

We provide both Brand New and Used books for rent. For used books, we ensure that the rental is in usable and in resalable condition.

When would the books be delivered?

We deliver books as early as within 3 hours. All books are delivered within 24 hours from the time of order. This is one of the fastest delivery services available.

What is Bookfount?

Bookfount is a NITR based startup under incubation of Foundation of Technology and Business Incubation (FTBI), NIT Rourkela. You can visit About Us to know more about us and our idea.

What does Bookfount mean?

The word "fount" means a source of desirable quality or commodity. And hence Bookfount means a source of books. It's simple as that.

Can I buy Used/Second-hand/Old books on Bookfount?

Yes. The condition of the book is clearly mentioned on the item page. You can buy both brand new and used books as per availability and your need.

Can I buy Brand New books on Bookfount?

Yes you can shop brand new titles on Bookfount. You can get both new and used books on our website.

Is it necessary to have an account to shop on Bookfount?

Yes, it's necessary to log into your Bookfount account to shop. Shopping as a logged-in user is fast and convenient and also provides extra security. You'll have access to a personalised shopping experience including recommendations and quicker check-out.

Why do I see different prices for the same book?

You could see different prices for the same product, as it could be listed by many Sellers.

Orders

I missed the delivery of my order today. What should I do?

The courier service delivering your order usually tries to deliver on the next business day in case you miss a delivery. You can contact us for more details on when the courier service will try to deliver again. You can check your order staus under My Orders section.

The delivery of my order is delayed. What should I do?

On the rare occasion that your order is delayed, please check your email and messages for updates. A new delivery timeframe will be shared with you and you can also track its status by visiting My Orders.

Can I take the shipment after opening and checking the contents inside?

As per company policy, a shipment can't be opened before delivery, but you can accept the shipment and get in touch with us later in case you have any concerns.

What should I do if my order is approved but hasn't been shipped yet?

Sellers usually ship orders early so that they reach you on time. In case your order hasn't been shipped within this time please contact our Customer Support so that we can look into it.

How do I know my order has been confirmed?

An e-mail and/or SMS will be sent once you've successfully placed your order. We'll also let you know as soon as the seller ships your order to you along with the tracking number(s) for your shipment(s). You can track your orders from the 'My Orders' section on your Bookfount account.

Cancellation and Returns

If I request for a replacement, when will I get it?

Visit My Orders to check the status of your replacement. In most locations, the replacement item is delivered to you at the time of pick-up. In all other areas, the replacement is initiated after the originally delivered item is picked up. Please check the SMS and email we send you for your replacement request for more details.

Can items be returned after the time period mentioned in the seller's Returns?

No, sellers will not be able to accept returns after the time period mentioned in the seller's Returns Policy. Currently as per our 2-days return policy, we allow returns upto 2 days after delivery (including the day of delivery).

Do I have to return the freebie when I return a product?

Yes, the freebie has to be returned along with the product.

Payment

How can I pay for my order?

All our orders are postpaid. We only accept Payments on Delivery. We call POD. The mode of payment can be Cash/Bhim/Tez only. We don't accept credit/debit cards as they attract collection fee which ultimately makes titles expensive.

Why should I sell on Bookfount?

Bookfount is backed by a team of engineers dedicated to pioneer student-only services that ranges from selling class notes to second-hand books and book rentals- with an aim of being available in smallest of schools to largest of universities of the nation. Currently a startup under Foundation of Technology and Business Incubation (FTBI), sell on Bookfount to reach more than 5000 users of NIT Rourkela and to every school and colleges of Rourkela by May 2018.

Who can sell on Bookfount?

Student sellers need not produce any document to start selling. For others, anyone selling genuine books is welcome. To start selling, you need to have the following: (a) GSTIN (b) PAN Card (Personal PAN for business type “Proprietorship” and Personal + Business PAN for business type as “Company”) (c) Bank account/Tez VPA/Bhim VPA/

How do I sell on Bookfount?

To sell on Bookfount: (a) Register yourself at bookfount.com. (b) List your Titles under "Sell a Book". (c)Once an order is received, Our logistics partner will pick up the product, package it and deliver it to the customer. (d) Once an order is successfully dispatched, Bookfount will settle your payment in 3-7 business days.

How does selling work?

If an order is placed for your item(s), our logistics partner will pick it from you. We then pack it to make it ready for shipping. Once the order is delviered and transaction complete, you receive the amount directly in your Bank account via NEFT/Bhim/Tez et cetera in 3-7 business days.

Do I need to courier my products to Bookfount?

No, Bookfount will handle shipping and packaging of your products. All you need to do is keep the book ready for dispatch. Our logistics partner will pick it up from you and deliver it to the customer.

Who decides the price of the products?

As a seller, you will set the price of your products.

Will I get charged for listing products on Bookfount?

No. Listing books on Bookfount.com is absolutely free. Bookfount does not charge anything for listing your catalogue online. You only pay a small charge (inclusive of pickup and packaging charges) for what you sell.

Who takes care of the delivery of my products?

Our logistics partner will pick up the book from you and deliver it to the customer. All you need to do is keep it ready for dispatch.

How and when will I get paid?

The payment will be made directly to your bank account through NEFT, Tez UPI, Bhim UPI or Cash (as per the requirement). Bookfount will settle your payments within 3-7 business days.

When can I start selling?

As soon as your account is created you can start listing your books and start selling.

How many listings are required to start selling?

You are required to have a minimum of 1 listing to start selling on Bookfount.

Listing and Catalogue

How do I list my products on Bookfount?

We give you a step-by-step process of how to list your books on our website. It is important to choose the most suitable category to list your books as it will help customers find them faster. You'll be asked to include product details such as item condition, MRP, SP et cetera.

Can I get help for development of catalog (product images, description, etc.)?

Yes, we are happy to help you at every stage while doing business with us. We help you connect with our team for the development of your catalogs. With the help of our team, you can have attractive images and crisp content for free.

How do I price my products?

Our pricing algorithm will suggest you the most suitable price for your book that increases the chance of selling faster. When pricing products on Bookfount, please account for a suitable margin to arrive at the Selling Price. For ease of calculation, you can use our Charge Calulator once onboarded.

Order Management and Shipping

How do I manage my orders on Bookfount?

Through our seller dashboard, we make it really easy for you to manage your orders. Whenever a customer places an order, we send you an e-mail/Whatsapp/Phone alert. You need to keep it ready for dispatch within the time frame provided by you and inform us through the seller dashboard. This will alert our logistics partner to pick up the product from you.
